Henie Onstad Kunstsenter welcomes the audience to a special event at Høvikodden from February 27 to March 4, 2018 from 11am to 5pm.
For this occation, Marina Abramović presents a new work for the Norwegian audience in Sal Haaken at the art centre and will be a community work made by The Abramović Method.
What is The Method?
Abramovic Method is a large scale, public participatory event joining people in
a communal experience to connect with oneself and with each other. Inside this
quiet, non-discriminatory and non-hierarchical space, the public is invited to
participate in a number of exercises and to observe others as they participate.
Connecting people in this basic way and creating a space of mutual witnessing,
we encourage the kind of collective vulnerability that humans being need in
order to better coexist.
What will happen?
Abramović has used the method of creating large participating works with the audience in São Paolo and Athens. Now she will use The Method to engage the broader public in participatory exercises at Høvikodden. Through instructions and guidance, the audience will be able to experience The Method themselves.
The entire Sal Haaken of 1500 square meters will be staged for the work. Here, the art center, in collaboration with Marina Abramović, has engaged and trained 25 facilitators who will guide the audience in the room. The work will allow up to 150 people to participate at the same time.
How can I participate?
Entrance to the exhibition itself is with a regular museum ticket, while entrance to The Abramović Method will be free. For this reason, it is not possible to pre-order tickets for The Abramović Method. Once you enter the room you can join as long as you wish, but you can not bring with you cell phones or clocks. Cabinets are set up outside the entrance, where you store this safely.
