The World Series: Gotland Project

In 1968 Boyle and Hills launched their major project The World Series / Journey to the Surface of the Earth. The starting point was a world map in the scale of 1: 11000000, which from August 1968 to July 1969 was given thousand holes from various audience events where they blindfolded threw arrows on the map.

The goal of the World Series is apparently simple: to find, investigate and present 1000 randomly selected locations from the Earth's surface. The results of the explorations are eye-catching and rough reliefs that intersects our of concepts of visual art, land art, performance, painting and sculpture.

In 2014, Boyle Family was invited by the CoLAB program and the Royal British Society of Sculptors in London to do a World Series work in Gotland, Sweden. For over a month they studied a selected area in the sea, just off the coast at Lickershamn. Based on these surveys, the artists have made a film of the sea's surface, a study of the area's limestone, artists, photos of the plant and wildlife, as well as a film of everyday life in Lickershamns harbor.

The exhibition is on view from April 20 through September 2
