On October 22, 2020, Henie Onstad invited the yoiker and artist Sara Marielle Gaup Beaska to open the exhibition Nils-Aslak Valkeapää / Áillohaš performing the late artist's own yoik and songs.
Sara Marielle comes from Kautokeino and has, as Áillohaš, been a innovator of Sami music traditions. She first became known across the country in the group Adjagas in the 2000s and more recently as one half of the duo Arvvas.
She is accompanied by Andreas Gundersen from Tana. After studying under Wolfgang Plagge, Andreas quickly distinguished himself as a pianist for the future, with a special focus on contemporary music.
Áillohaš' music has a wide range. According to Sara Marielle, she was honored to be chosen for this task and choosing a repertoire was not easy. The choice fell on Áldobiellut, Govadas and Sii gehččet ipmášit. These are three famous and beloved musical works by Áillohaš - one song and two yoiks - arranged in ways we have never heard before.
