-Photography is, so to speak, an indicator of the time and system we live in.
-Who are you?
Viktoria Binschtok: I’m a Berlin based artist working with and about the medium of photography.
-What do you do?
In my recent work ‚Networked Images‘ I combine my own photographs taken in the physical world with found jpgs that I re-stage. The result is a photographic symbiosis that is linked visually to one another. For this work I make use of image search algorithms in order to visualize a cross-section of our current image production, which has changed significantly over the past decades due to globalization and digitization.
-Why photography?
The permanent development of the medium and its feedback to our social environment make it an exciting object of investigation. Photography is, so to speak, an indicator of the time and system we live in.
