Photography programme
Through an ambitious exhibition, event and learning program, the Henie Onstad Kunstsenter re-establishes its position as a place for photographic expression.
The art center was a pioneer through its presentation of photography in the 1970s and, with the new initiative, provides an important supplement to existing exhibition arenas elevating photographic expression today.
Since 2017, Henie Onstad has, among other things, presented several solo exhibitions with significant Norwegian and international photographers, extensive group exhibitions, seminars and developed the talent program Young Photographers.
Innovative
A leading initiative in the commitment to photography is the establishment New Visions, a triennial for experimental, international contemporary photography. The Henie Onstad Triennial for Photography and New Media was launched in February 2020 and included works by 31 international artists. The triennial aims to introduce innovative photographic practices that reflect how photography is part of media in our daily lives.
The commitment is made possible through a collaboration with ABG, Aars, Kolonihagen, the Varner group and Fritt Ord. In addition, Henie Onstad has hired a dedicated curator of photography and allocated a significant share of funds and resources to the initiative.
